Hello everyone,
I’m planning to visit NTU CCDS to get a feel of the environment where most CS students attend their lectures, tutorials, and labs.
Does anyone have recommendations on which buildings or areas I should visit to get the best overall impression of the CS student experience?
Would really appreciate any advice — feel free to leave a comment below. Thanks!
There is a common perception in Singapore that NUS Computer Science (CS) has a stronger reputation than NTU Computer Science (CS) when it comes to employer recognition and graduate outcomes.
However, I’m trying to understand how meaningful this difference actually is in real hiring practice, beyond general perception.
On one hand, both universities are widely recognised, produce strong CS graduates, and consistently rank highly in Asia.
On the other hand, some people argue that NUS has an advantage in resume screening and access to more competitive opportunities, while others say the difference is small and mostly disappears once individual factors are considered.
So the question is:
Is the difference between NUS CS and NTU CS:
structurally meaningful (consistently affects hiring outcomes),
or
marginal (only noticeable in edge cases like highly competitive roles), with most outcomes driven by internships, projects, skills, and performance?
I’m especially interested in whether this is:
a real hiring bias in practice
a reputation/perception effect
or just an overgeneralised comparison between two already top-tier programs
Would appreciate insights from recruiters, CS graduates from either university, or anyone familiar with hiring in Singapore tech.
Everyone keeps saying NUS is super modern and NTU is ulu, but after seeing some SoC areas I felt like I travelled back to kampung 💀
Now I’m curious — is NTU actually better looking / more modern overall?
Planning to go NTU one day and judge for myself lol.
