Citric acid vs lemon juice for crushed tomatoes

Do you have a preference between the two? Do the tomatoes taste lemony with the juice? What does the citric acid taste like in them?

Sure gel question for a newbie canner

Hi everyone! I'm a new canner. I made a great batch of low sugar blackberry jam using the Sure Gel recipe on their website. I use blackberries that I grow, and in their prime they're really sweet. Right now we're in a bad drought and the plants are on their way out for the season, so I've started picking a lot of berries that aren't very ripe, and pretty sour. My question is, I have another box of the low sugar sure gel - can I use that box of pectin and up the sugar amount a little bit that I use to account for the less ripe fruit? Or do I need to buy another box of the regular pectin and use a full sugar recipe? Thank you!

Not today, Satan!

Found the black droppings. Looked right up and BAM, found the culprit. Snipped the branch off into some soapy water, and felt only slightly bad about it!

On the positive side, got a bunch of tomatoes picked!

Are you a breaker phase or vine ripe harvester?

Usually I've been a close to vine ripe harvester, but this year I'm trying to pick at the breaker phase to see if I can beat some pest/bird pressure. Last picture is one I picked last week that has ripened really nicely.

Well, it finally happened to me!

Specifically planted a bunch of Plum Regals this year to try them out to have a lot of tomatoes for sauce making, and chose only to plant 2 sun sugars for cherry tomatoes since they're so prolific. And of course guess what I have growing now instead of the Plum Regals? 😂😭 I got, got!

Continually amazed that I can grow anything!

Apologies for how corny this sounds, but seriously, any time something actually grows in my garden I'm amazed. Like, I grew that!?The best part is seeing my daughters be equally excited about it!

First time trying the Bobcat variety and I'm so impressed already!

I watch the Millennial Gardener a lot and he raves about Bobcats as an early determinate, and the guy was right! I have 5 of these plants and they're all loaded up with big fruit like this. I can't wait until they ripen to taste if they're as good as they look.

Natural pest control!

I knew they were there eating my cauliflower and cabbage but I hadn't been able to find any. I may not normally like them, but you can't beat the help from a wasp in the garden!
