Someone in some thread here asked for images from Santa Ponca beach ahead of the eclipse. I’m in a hotel 10 mins walk away from the beach. I took these two images tonight from our balcony. I’m not sure what site/app is best to do the calculations but my gut is saying that totality is going to be partially behind the mountains (although I would Falke recommendations for apps to work it through). The filtered image is at 8:40 and the second at 8:47.pm so at maximum 7 mins between contact with the mountain and completely hidden. Due to distractions I didn’t get the time the sun was obscured by the mountains.

I was planning to drive for a better view of the eclipse. But with the road closures, I’m wondering if staying on my balcony is a better shout. It might be quite a stunning image if the eclipse is above the hills.

Anyone got any pointers how best to simulate it?
