Torn between reading Preacher or Miracle man

I’ve found a good rhythm of going back and forth between reading a very dense novel and then reading a comic book or series as a palate cleanser.I thought I was going to switch it up and go traditional super hero but Absolute Batman and All Star Superman were both misses. Something about that aesthetic just doesn’t work for me. I’ve read the first two preacher books and loved them (although progressvely less throughout the two books even though i still loved them). And now i’m torn between giving Preacher another whirl and looking for a recap and diving into book 3 or starting something new with Miracle man. I’m just looking for something that’s fun and maybe a little shocking at the end of a long day but still with some substance and meat on its bones. Any thoughts?.

Trying to get into comics

I’m trying to get into comics but its so tough. I found the first Preacher volume at half price books and had a blast reading it but i’m not used to spending like 12 bucks on a book that i finish in… A DAY!? How do yall sustain this lifestyle lmao. I also really want to read the walking dead but the TPBs are too expensive and i wonder if the big compendium is just too big to comfortably read. I downloaded them digitally but for some reason i feel like that takes the piss out of the whole thing? Idk I’m probably just going to suck it up and read digital for awhile but it was so fun reading the preacher volume physical. (Also found out after the fact i should have bought book 1 not volume 1 as its the more updated version) this shit is brutal lol. Do most of yall read digital and just kind of collect on the side? Is reading digital looked down on? Or is ir preferred by some of yall? I’m so interested by this hobby.

I am hot off discovering an amazing hidden gem in József Gémes 1984 animated film 'Heroic Times', It's an incredible work of animated oil paintings about the life of a knight. It really started making me think about life in that time and has made me want to read a more historically accurate work of fiction but I'm torn on which to read. Pillars of the earth seems like more of an intimate story about characters so that interests me, that being said i have consistently heard that the writing isn't that good. On the other hand, I loved the show adaptation of The Last Kingdom so Cornwell already has a good impression in my head. What are yall's thoughts on these two series as a first historical fiction read.
