Fun little weave so far

Fun little weave so far

Finished warping this up on my inkle loom last night and did a couple of rows, and did a bit more earlier today. I'm really enjoying it so far, I like patterns that go in groups of two (and repeat a pick!) Here's the original pattern on TwistedThreads, though I altered the border cards to my personal tastes because I like that "braided" look

Headband for a 9yo

Made a headband for a kiddo that really looks up to me. First time thread wrapping and first time using a fringe twister. I really love how this turned out, and kiddo loves it too.

Free online tapestry resources?

Hey all, I had a look through the wiki and didn't see anything like this, so I thought I'd ask the community directly. I want to try tapestry weaving and see if it clicks for me as a fun way to use some of my yarn stash (used to knit, tried crochet. psoriatic arthritis likes neither) but I have limited supplies (not a problem from what I hear), limited space (I can make it work), and uh. limited cash to get started.

For the materials, nbd, but I want to make a geometric design with three colors, so I'd like to have some sort of reference or tutorial to look at in my price range (free). Video tutorials are most helpful for me, though even a glossary of terms and a list of diagrams for different techniques would be better than nothing

ETA: I found a copy of Rebecca Mezoff's book through my local library, which helps some but I can't keep it

I love how this pattern is turning out so much

So my friend's granddaughter looks up to me a bunch, she's super cute, and I thought this pattern from Applesies and Fox Noses in these colors would make an adorable headband for her. Gotta say, I think I'm right, hehe.

(color picker choices weren't exact but they were never meant to be for me)

At last... 3D-printed tiny loom (mk i)

I've been working on making a tiny bracelet-sized loom for weaving with silk and cotton sewing thread, and it finished printing the other week but I've been having a hard time concentrating on warping it (thanks adhd) but finally... it's finished warping up and I feel ready to show it off

I've already got a few ideas for improvements on a second design, including adding a proper tension bar and a lil magnetic resting area for the shuttle. But for a first pass so far I'd call it a success.

lasercut some teeny cards yesterday...

25mm (approximately) lasercut chipboard tablet weaving cards. I have 25 of them, and they need to be cleaned off before I can use them.

what do I need something that small for, you ask? Well you see, I'm working on designing a frame loom for using cotton and (eventually) silk sewing thread to weave bracelets on because I can't get this pinterest pin out of my head

3D printed 80mm cards

made these 80mm cards with marked sides after a couple iterations of the design mentioned in this post so i can use them with idling packs

i plan on mostly using these cards with heavy cotton, so i'm not worried about damaging the warp so much, but i will report back once i have enough cards to do a test piece with the yarn i bought for the project i'm making the cards for

unfortunately i'm printing at a public library and can only print 4-8 in a day depending on timing, and i can only make it once a week, so i won't be able to make a test piece until next week at the earliest

Gift from a friend

Got this the other day, excited to do some of the patterns in here. Especially Reverse Corners (photo 2), I really like that one

Designed a large (80mm) tablet for techniques that do better with larger sheds

So I plan on doing the Lattice pattern posted by Catherine Weaver at some point in the near-ish future, but all I currently have is some fairly small (1.8 inch) wooden cards, and I've heard that idling packs works best with a larger shed. Well I'm broke, but I have access to my library's 3D printer, so I thought I'd make a card design that fits my basic needs: large enough size, shorter print time (hence the big cutout in the center), and being able to easily see what pick number I'm on at any point in the rotation.

I learned FreeCAD for this, though the indents in the sides were frustrating me and I gave up and finished those off in Tinkercad because I knew how to do it in under 5 minutes.

If anyone wants to print this design for themselves, I made it available on Thingiverse because I figured I can't be the only one with a desire to easily know at a glance what pick number I'm on with a 3D printed card.

Technique for chasing twist on large numbers of cards when using fishing swivels?

I started a new pattern today that I'd like to avoid reversals on if possible, and I'd also like to avoid sitting for an hour for every 15-20 minutes of weaving time, chasing twist for 13 cards across 9 different pegs on my homemade inkle loom. There's gotta be an easier way to do this than individually/card by card and risking threads getting tangled and crossed while it's twisting along, maybe I'm missing something...?
