Question on preserving vintage leather gloves

I wear 1890s fashion every day of my life, thus when I go outside I always wear unlined leather gloves. They are almost all vintage and purchased from wherever I can find them. The unfortunate fact is that I just keep having to buy more because they get holes and become stiff almost within the first few wears. I know that leather gloves were worn everyday historically, so were there any ways to make leather gloves last much longer?

1890s tweed Inverness coat in progress!

I’m finally making my dream coat! I’ve been craving the ultimate autumnal/wintery garment to make me excited to face the cold and rain, this 1895 brown wool tweed Inverness coat is it! So far I’ve only ordered the fabric and drafted the pattern from the 1895 Keystone Jacket and Dress-cutter Guide. I shall post the final product when it is completed this autumn!

Would it be a bad idea to use a silk twill lining on a coat that’s going to get wet?

I’m currently working on an 1890s Inverness coat. I’ve ordered the fabric which will be a 100% wool brown herringbone tweed weighing around 472g per linear meter. I plan for this to be the ultimate autumnal/wintery coat to make me feel a little more happy to face cold rainy days ahead. I initially thought to do the lining in beige silk twill because, aside from being very luxurious, it is also the warmest possible option. Unfortunately I am given pause when considering the fact that I will likely be rained on while wearing this coat, and I would rather not have moisture soak through my coat to stain my lining. Should I line it in cotton or rayon instead? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Video I which made showing off my favourite outfit

I wanted to show off my favorite outfit of mine in the context of it being something a rural lady in the Pacific Northwest might have worn in 1895-96
