From building inspector to field adjuster?
Back in 2024, I applied for a position and didn't make it. (Damn HireVue!). Ever since then, I've wondered what it would have been like. I've been a building inspector (government) for the last year and a half, and a field adjuster position (property) just opened up again. Honestly, government work is a bit too slow-paced for me, at least in my municipality. I've read the horror stories on case load, and the stress, but I'm really not turned off about it. I feel like I'm called to this job, but obviously I've never done it.
Customer service is the core of my position now. I've got the construction science down. I was a contractor prior to being an inspector, so I've got that down pat as well.
What do y'all think? Am I stupid? I've got a state pension (need 4 more years to be vested), GREAT insurance, and so-so PTO. I'm young. I'm married, no kids.
** Edit **
The position that opened up is local property. I'd be assigned a territory. I know I can be called for CAT as well though, but daily duties would be local.
