Call to Arms — Arcane Seas War

To all pirates, corsairs, free captains, and independent crews of the Arcane Seas,

The British Empire has grown too comfortable here.

They move in convoys. They protect merchant routes. They extract wealth from these waters as if it is theirs by right. They call it order. We call it monopoly.

That ends now.

A war is already underway between the British Royal Navy and French naval forces within the Arcane Plane. But fleets alone will not decide this conflict.

You will.

I am calling on every free crew willing to strike at British shipping, break their supply lines, and burn their advantage at sea.

No loyalty is demanded. No chains are offered.

Only targets.

Convoys. Escorts. Isolated warships. Supply routes. Any vessel that carries the Crown’s influence across these waters is now part of this war.

The British are strong—but predictable.

And predictable fleets burn well.

Join this campaign, and you will not be fighting for France.

You will be fighting for profit, for freedom of movement, and for the end of a single power dictating the seas.

The Arcane Seas are not an empire.

They are a battlefield.

And the battlefield belongs to those who fight on it.

I have brought supplies for the war

A low lantern burns inside a weather-worn tavern off the edge of the docks, where maps are traded like currency and trust is worth less than a broken compass.

the stranger sits alone at a corner table.

Neat coat. Naval cut. No insignia. Clean posture that does not belong to a common sailor, and just enough restraint in his voice to make people listen twice.

When he speaks, there is a faint French accent—carefully controlled, as if he prefers it noticed but not confirmed.

“I will be brief.”

A small crate is set on the table. Fresh supplies. Not plundered. Not worn. Proper goods—rope, powder, sealed provisions, replacement flints, and better steel than most pirate crews are used to seeing outside a naval dockyard.

“Consider this a… goodwill introduction.”

He slides the crate slightly forward, not offering it yet. Negotiation first. Always.

“I am looking for something in return.”

A pause. He leans back just enough to read the room.

“Information.”

His eyes move across the gathered pirates, as if weighing which ones lie for sport and which ones lie for survival.

“Royal Navy movements. Patrol routes. Convoy schedules. Any change in escort patterns. Any unusual fleet activity in these waters.”

A faint smile, controlled and unreadable.

“In short: what the Crown does not wish spoken aloud.”

He taps the crate once.

“No violence required. No allegiance demanded. Just information.”

Another pause.

“And if the information proves useful…”

The faintest hint of approval.

“There will be more supplies where this came from.”

Certain Rumors Have Reached My Ears

https://preview.redd.it/iy0z220sac4h1.png?width=983&format=png&auto=webp&s=0b1cb0451fe17836ce07bdff2d346baff704563b

These waters grow more interesting by the day.

I arrived recently on matters of trade and navigation, expecting little more than exaggerated tavern tales. Instead, I find persistent rumors of fortunes made from spices, cargoes changing hands in secret, and treasure moving through ports faster than official records can account for.

Naturally, this has attracted my attention.

I am seeking reliable information regarding the following:

  • The current state of the spice trade.
  • Major merchants, traders, and ports of call.
  • Recent movements of pirate fleets.
  • Notable discoveries of treasure or valuable cargo.
  • The disposition and strength of British forces operating in the region.

I am not interested in drunken speculation or sailor's gossip. Accurate information has value, and I am prepared to pay accordingly.

Those possessing useful charts, reports, cargo manifests, shipping records, or first-hand observations may find themselves generously compensated.

Discretion, naturally, will be maintained.

Fair winds,

— A Gentleman of the Sea
