Had my amex gold a few years and not sure I’m getting the most of it.

I’m thinking of changing from Gold to the free BA Card but just checking I’m making the right decision. I don’t feel like I’m getting the benefits of the gold to justify paying for it. It might take me a while but would like the companion voucher to make points go abit further. 

Can I still get sign up bonus as it’s a British Airways card? 

Is there any better ways for me to get points? my Wife hasn’t got an amex but she’s got a card on my account not sure if she would get a bonus on any of them and if thats worth doing?
