Do Mauritians have a martyr complex?
It might be more common with older generations but I have seen the same pattern with people my age. It's almost as if they expect suffering (and do nothing to counter it!) in all stages of life. If by chance you are enjoying whatever stage of your life, you will hear "atane to [al luniversité/coumence travail/marié/gagn zenfan], lerla to pu koné".
