In Barnyard (2006) there's a metal detector for finding currency in the ground. In Ratchet & Clank (2002) there's a metal detector for finding... currency... in the ground. In Psychonauts (2005), there's... In MySims (2007)... Hey, uhh... What's with metal detectors in 2000's games?
Beginner modding questions for Steam
I just bought the Cozy Bundle on Steam, and I have a few questions about modding that I couldn't find straight answers to (and there seems to be a major lack of videos online):
I don't get the Lua Folder Patch, what does it do? Since the installer is designed for the 2008 version the program just plops a folder called "SimsRevData" into its own folder. Do I have to replace the existing lua files with those of the patch, or is it supposed to go somewhere else? When I tried to do the former the game refused to go past the title screen no matter which key I pressed.
Once I get mods running with the Lua Folder Patch, how do I make my own content, like custom characters or furniture blueprints? Is there an addon and a base template for the Sims somewhere that I can use in Blender? And once I finished the models, what files do I have to create to put them in the game?
Are there NO OTHER good ways to grind Dragon Stars/Gems?
After years of not playing a merge-3 game I decided to play this one again, and not even a few hours in I remembered just how stingy the game is with Dragon Gems. The prices are absolutely ridiculous compared to the amount you get.
I've looked at previous posts searching for other ways to get those stupid Dragon Stars, and after years of updates the seemingly best way to grind them (outside of participating in limited-time events, this game LOVES those) is still to replay 1-chalice levels?? How is any non-whale player still surviving???
Oh, and just great that turning off purchases also turns off the ability to naturally get those stars. Avoid the scummy monetization being thrown in your face just to be penalized by having your one reliable source of the freemium currency be cut off. Gram Games really pioneered the genre with greedy schemes like this, as opposed to focusing on the "puzzle" aspect of this alleged "puzzle" game. Can't make puzzle games with solid design and progression like in ye olden days of Where's My Water? and Cut the Rope, gotta taint it with utter slop of repetitive events, dragon bloat and hundreds of opportunities to spend money, the latter of which includes playing the darn game by giving a limited amount of attempts per SEVEN HOURS.
