In GTA 4: The Ballad Of GY Tony we see Mori immediately fall down and cry after Bruce punched him in the face, this is because he got hit by a grown man and not a starving Levantine child like Mori was probably used to

In Shin Megami Tensei : Devil Summoner, the demon named 'Patriot' is a mindless empty-headed gun-wielding zombie draped in the American flag. This is a very subtle political metaphor.

In Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Rex says that Tora looks like Poppi’s little Teddy Bear. This confirms that Teddy Bears existed on Alrest and thus Teddy Roosevelt is canon to Xenoblade, though it still doesn’t explain why he didn’t intervene when Bionis and the Mechonis were fighting.

In Sid Meier's Civilization IV, sacrificing population for production with Slavery is one of the most powerful civics which remains viable long into the game. Enslaving people also helps in city happiness and health management. This is a reference to Civ4 understanding the 4X gamer grindset.

In Sonic Adventure 2 (2001), Tails was never born and he was born nowhere. This may explain why he was depicted as immortal in earlier games, as something that was never truly born can never truly die.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 3, & Knuckles (as well as certain ports of Sonic 1 where Tails is included, and later Mania), if you choose to play as Sonic and Tails as a duo, Tails will be able to infinitely take damage and respawn. This is explained in Sonic Adventure 2, where it is revealed in Tails' level 'Mission Street' that he is an ageless being incapable of death.

In Star Fox (2026) Peppy is a 41 year old pilot who works under the founder of his employer's 18 year old son despite being more experienced and skilled than him. He is clearly a victim of nepotism.

In Grand Theft Auto VI (2026), there is a sticker with the phrase "BUY MORE USELESS SHIT". This is a subtle reference to the physical edition of the game, which contains nothing but a download code and a plastic case.

In Battlefield 4, your character has awful posture. This is because the devs wanted to match how you look IRL so that you feel more connected to your character.

Throughout the Metal Gear series (1987 - Ongoing), Big Boss is referred to as "The man who sold the world". This begs the question of who he sold it to, the answer to which is made obvious through the song "World is Mine" by Hatsune Miku.
