I'm team waterbender guy but I think it's very possible that since the casting calls said "Love interestS" as in plural, it could be both.
It's such a missed opportunity, I think it would be fun to have there be at least like a limited timed event where Kaveh visits Fontaine and he goes to see his mother.
Kaveh's lore and overall character is about family and connections. He always considered the people closest to him as his home. And while I do believe Kaveh found a new home (Alhaitham,) He surely must also miss his mother.
She's said to be so beautiful that people would come to classes just to see her and apparently Kaveh is the spitting image of her, which is one of my favourite facts about him. They're both very stubborn and can get riled up by customers too, like mother like son.
I would just love to see how Kaveh would interact with his mother now that he's grown more as a person and also pushed past the guilt felt about his father's death.

Kodaka did state that if 2x2 does well then there MIGHT be a chance THH and V3 gets a remake as well.. but we can't be sure that it will ever happen.
And if that's true then my girl Kaede better STAY the protagonist this time and not have Shuichi be the default protag from the beginning.
Do you think he'll replace John Danganronpa as the protagonist? I hope not.. John Danganronpa is the goat!
