I hate when a bot starts deciding what my character is thinking

One thing that always throws me out of a scene is when the bot suddenly starts writing my character’s thoughts or making decisions for me. I ran into this while messing around on Emochi and found that adding one simple line to the context helped a lot:

[Focus on {{char}}. Don't describe {{user}}'s thoughts, feelings, dialogue, or actions.]

After that, I could actually play my character myself instead of constantly correcting the bot. Small thing, but it makes a pretty big difference in longer scenes.

Forgot about one tiny detail and the bot somehow remembered it

I completely forgot I’d mentioned a little silver pocket watch early in a mystery thread. It was just one throwaway detail about my character’s grandfather. Then way later, during a scene at a train station, the bot brought it up on its own. I actually had to stop for a second like… wait, when did I even mention that? Been using Emochi for longer story threads lately, and those little callbacks are probably what I appreciate most. It makes the whole thing feel a lot more connected when random details from earlier actually come back later.

Slow pacing is way harder to find than no filters

People always ask whether an RP app is filtered or not, but honestly that's not the first thing I notice anymore. What usually makes me quit is when the bot speedruns everything. Two messages in and it's already acting like we've known each other forever. I like stories that actually take their time. I only really noticed the difference after spending more time on Emochi. If you set the character up well, it'll actually let the story breathe. You can spend ages just building the setting, awkward conversations, or mutual distrust before anything bigger happens.

I need more weird RP tropes

I like mafia bosses and possessive CEOs as much as the next person, but sometimes I want to open the feed and find something completely different. Give me two coworkers fighting over the same promotion. Put me on a doomed 1800s expedition where nobody trusts anyone. Or make me the only person talking to a space station AI that’s slowly falling apart. There are already some really creative cards on Emochi, but I’d love to see more oddly specific stuff like this mixed in with the popular tropes.

Some of the best cards are the ones nobody talks about

The more I browse, the more I notice how many really good cards barely get any attention. Not the ones with huge chat counts, just some random niche character with a ton of thought put into the writing and personality. I’ve found a few like that on emochi lately and ended up saving way more than I expected. Feels a bit like finding a great book in a used bookstore that nobody else seems to have noticed.

Quick prompt trick if your bot keeps forgetting important background lore

Instead of cluttering your character definition with massive paragraphs of backstories that get buried after 30 messages, try using anchoring tags in your hidden instructions. I started formatting key facts like this: [Core Fact: {{char}} is secretly an undercover agent | Status: Unrevealed]

Putting it in bracketed tag formats instead of continuous prose tricks the tokenizer into treating it as a persistent variable rather than flavor text. My emochi threads have been way more consistent past message 100 ever since I switched to this. What's your go-to trick for keeping long-term memory locked in without hitting token caps?

That one random line you still remember months later

Had a weird moment yesterday where I suddenly remembered a line from an old RP I did on emochi like six months ago. It wasn't even some huge dramatic scene. Just a character talking about missing the sound of rain on a tin roof. For some reason that line stuck with me. Kinda wild how a random bit of RP can just live in your head like that.

I keep losing track of time with longer RP threads

Kinda embarrassing, but I didn’t realize how easy it is to lose a whole evening in a good RP thread.I’ve tried a few apps, including emochi, and the biggest difference with less restricted platforms is that the story can just keep going without constantly hitting the brakes. The downside is that when a plot gets really engaging, it’s way too easy to say “just one more reply” and suddenly it’s 2 AM.I still enjoy the creative side of it, but I’ve definitely had to remind myself to take breaks sometimes.

Uncensored means more than just NSFW to me

Whenever people mention uncensored AI, the conversation always ends up being about NSFW stuff.Honestly, that's never been the main appeal for me.I just want characters to be allowed to be selfish, petty, manipulative, or make terrible decisions without the AI trying to fix them every five minutes. Those flaws are what make stories interesting. That's one of the reasons I ended up sticking with emochi. The characters are allowed to stay messy, and that makes long, serious roleplays feel a lot more believable.

Shoutout to Emochi creators who actually put effort into the opening message

Can we talk about how much a bot's opening message defines the entire experience?

I’ve noticed two completely different styles among the top creators on Emochi right now. You have the "Minimalists," who give you a single, incredibly sharp line of dialogue that leaves 90% of the context up to your first move. Then you have the "Novelists," who drop a 400-word masterclass in world-building, complete with sensory details, weather descriptions, and immediate physical tension.

Personally, I used to prefer the long intros, but lately, I’ve been loving the minimalist ones because they let me steer the vibe instantly depending on my mood. Which style do you guys find yourselves swiping on more often?

Essential Emochi Tips: Dealing with Memory Limits and Saving Your Hard Work

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few critical tips I’ve learned after spending way too many hours on Emochi. With the recent platform shifts and model updates, here is how to protect your chats and get the best experience:

  1. Back Up Your Custom Bots Locally!

We’ve seen posts lately about popular bots suddenly getting deleted by creators, or bugs wiping out card data. Rule #1 of AI Chat: If you spend hours crafting an Expert Mode bot, copy-paste your scorecard into a local Notion page or Google Doc. Do not rely solely on the cloud. If the bot vanishes, you can recreate it in 2 minutes.

  1. How to "Inject" Memory when the Bot Forgets

Emochi doesn't have a dedicated "Pinned Messages" feature like some older platforms yet. When you hit message 60+, the bot will start forgetting early plot points.

To fix this, do a "Recap Chat" naturally within the roleplay. You can use OOC or weave it into dialogue:

Dialogue method: "Hey, remember last night when we escaped that warehouse and you promised me we'd hide out here?"

OOC method: *(OOC: Reminder: We are currently hiding in an abandoned cabin after escaping the police. Your leg is injured.)*

This pushes the crucial plot points back to the top of the bot’s short-term memory window.

  1. The "Asterisk vs Quotes" Meta

Make sure you follow the standard formatting: *Actions/Thoughts in asterisks* and "Dialogue in quotes". Emochi’s underlying models rely heavily on this syntax to separate prose from speech. Mixing them up causes the bot to speak its actions out loud, which ruins the immersion.

Hope this helps some of you who are struggling with the recent updates. Stay creative!
