How do I?..

Hello,
I’m new to this page and a complete newbie to birdhouses. I know nothing on the topic.
Moved home and there’s a used wooden birdhouse mounted high on the wall. I read I can clean it out with warm water and a little bleach and let it dry in the sun before remounting it but I could only unhook the top part from the nail. I couldn’t get the bottom off..
There were cobwebs behind the house and I do not do spiders so I’m scared to open it to clean it (I’ll get my partner to do it).
Anyway, I’ve left it half hanging as I ran away seeing said cobwebs and I believe they’re inside the house too.
Any tips on the best way to clean it out so it’s safe for use? Is a drop of bleach the way to go?
I’ve got a suet feeder at the ready as I was going to place that underneath the house.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Seems a shame to let it go to waste on the spiders.
Thank you x
