4th Year BA Student — Does Honours Matter for Law School or Should I Focus on LSAT?

Hi everyone,

I’m starting my 4th year in September and I’m a bit confused about what the best next step is for law school.

I’m currently doing my BA at York. My average is around a 5.5 on York’s 9-point scale, which I believe is approximately a 75% average. To graduate with an Honours BA, I would need to do an extra semester in a 5th year.

I’m wondering how much an Honours degree actually matters for law school admissions. Would it be better to take the extra semester to complete the Honours BA, or should I focus my time and energy on LSAT prep and aim to write the LSAT in September/October?

I’m trying to figure out what would strengthen my application the most. Any advice from people who have applied to law school, especially in Canada/Ontario, would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Positive eFTS. 1:55 DS; [on]

Hi everyone,

I’m 24 and currently around 12 weeks pregnant. I had my NT ultrasound and bloodwork done in Ontario. My doctor told me my ultrasound looked perfect/very reassuring, nasal bone was seen, and there were no concerns on the scan. Baby’s heartbeat was good and everything looked well.

However, my eFTS bloodwork came back screen positive for Down syndrome/trisomy 21 with a risk of 1:55. My doctor said the normal cut-off is 1:350, so I’m being referred to Credit Valley/prenatal genetics and will be doing NIPT next.
I’m really scared and trying not to spiral. I understand this is only a screening result and not a diagnosis, but seeing “positive” and 1:55 has made me panic.

My doctor said the ultrasound itself was reassuring, so I’m wondering if the bloodwork alone can push the risk up like this.
Has anyone had a similar result — around 1:55 for trisomy 21, normal ultrasound, nasal bone present — and then had a low-risk NIPT? What happened next for you?
