Replacing tailgate buttons

Replacing tailgate buttons

[UPDATE] After people helping out in the comments, it’s really as simple as popping it out with a trim removal tool or flat head screw driver and swapping the part out. Thanks everyone!

Hi, does anyone know how to remove these buttons from the tailgate of a Polestar 2 MY22? I need to replace them as one of the buttons has lost its clicking ability and feels like it’s on its way out.

Loud vibrations in the heat.

Hi all,

Looking for some quick peace of mind. It’s around 35°C here today, and my 2021 Polestar 2 was parked in the sun and on charge right before I went out for a short drive.

During the first 6 minutes of the trip, I noticed a weird issue: occasionally, when I would decelerate using regenerative braking, I’d get a loud-ish rumble and feel a distinct vibration right through the pedals and floorboards. It didn't happen every single time I slowed down, just a few times on the bigger stops. After about 6 minutes, it completely vanished for the rest of the drive.

I’ve read online that on some EVs, this is just the battery cooling system ramping up to absolute maximum capacity to shed heat. Is this normal behavior for the Polestar 2 as well under these conditions?

Thank you!

Recurring mirror and temp sensor issues on 2021 Polestar 2 after heavy rain (already replaced once) - Anyone else?

Hey everyone, looking for some advice or to see if anyone else has experienced this loop. I have a 2021 Polestar 2 and I am having a nightmare with the driver's side wing mirror and outside temperature sensor electronics.

Back in April, I took the car in because the outside temperature display was fluctuating wildly into sub-zero temperatures when it was mild out. This completely threw off the cabin heating and triggered false tire pressure warnings. The workshop replaced the entire wing mirror unit and the wiring harness, which seemed to fix it.

Fast forward to this week after a few days of heavy rain, and the exact same symptoms are back, plus some lovely new ones:

1 The outside temp sensor is reading sub-zero again, making the heater blast hot air unless I put it in manual mode on LO.

2 The wing mirrors are now intermittently failing to auto-unfold when I unlock the car.

3 When locking the car, the driver's side mirror only folds about halfway and then just stops mid-cycle.

If I manually press the L and R buttons together on the door armrest, I can usually force them to unfold, so I know the passenger mirror motor is physically fine. It feels like water is getting into the harness plug and causing a massive digital short circuit (LIN-bus issue?) that is jamming the signals for both sides.
Has anyone dealt with this recurring issue even after having the mirror and harness fully replaced? Could the water ingress be coming from somewhere else like the door shell itself or the A-pillar, or did the workshop just fit a defective replacement unit that isn't sealed properly?

Any insights before I go back to the service center to fight for a warranty fix would be massively appreciated!

Brake Light Malfunction Warning

Hi, I was driving my P2 2021 today and was using regen braking to turn off a road onto a smaller road. As I slowed and turned I got a “Brake Light Malfunction” error on my drivers displays and then it appeared in the “Car Status” tab. After about 2 mins of driving after this appeared I parked up for about 45 mins and once I got back in the car the error had cleared and the car status page said everything is fine.

Just wondering is this a software glitch or an intermittent issue of some kind? Thanks!

Issues with keyless entry and digital key

Hi, I recently purchased a Polestar 2 2021 and I’ve noticed that the digital key and physical key performance seem quite poor and slow.

Most of the time, if I want to unlock the car without the physical key, I either need to press the unlock button in the app or atleast open the Polestar app before the car responds. Passive unlocking rarely seems to work consistently.

I’ve also noticed that the keyless entry with the physical key can feel quite slow at times, and occasionally the car won’t unlock unless I press the buttons on the key manually.

I was wondering if these are known quirks/common behaviours with the car itself, or whether they may indicate an issue with the vehicle, key, or software setup.

Thanks.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice because I’ve been stressed out all morning about something that happened while I was driving yesterday.

I was in the right lane on a dual carriageway when a police car came up behind me really fast with its lights and sirens on. I felt trapped because there were two cars to my left and the gap between them was too small to pull into without cutting someone off.
I know I was wrong for speeding up, but I just panicked in the moment.

I decided the quickest way to get out of the way was to accelerate, get past the cars on my left, and then move over. I ended up going quite a bit over the limit for maybe 5 or 10 seconds just to clear the path for them so they didn't have to slow down.

My exit was right there, so I moved over and went down the slip road. The police car actually took the same exit. They indicated and stayed behind me for a second, and I was sure I was getting pulled over. But then they just zoomed right past me and kept going on their emergency call.

I’m terrified that they might have reported me or that the car automatically recorded my speed just by being near me. Since they didn’t actually stop me, am I likely to be okay, or should I be expecting a letter in the post? I was honestly just trying to get out of their way as fast as I could, but now I'm a mess thinking I've screwed myself. Has anyone had this happen or knows how they usually handle this?

Thanks.
