Be an example for zipper merging ⚖️ die trying?
There’s been a bottleneck at SB Airport and MLK for a while now, which is on my commute. Predictably, people are seeing the arrow and merging as soon as possible, sometimes even backing traffic up to Manor. Usually, I’ll be one of few that take the right lane up to the point of merging, often ending up at the front and easily zippering in.
Today, someone in a big white GMC was not having it. He was mad that I got in one car ahead of him until after Oak Springs, at which point he made sure to speed up next to me and intentionally swerve into my lane. Scary, but I didn’t bite and slowed down to be well behind him, even though he tried to slow to catch me as well.
When are we as a car-driving species going to learn how to drive, and how? Serious question. We’re all betting our lives just to get where we’re going.
