55 Years Since Louis Armstrong Died

55 Years Since Louis Armstrong Died

Playing this in memory of Louis Armstrong that died on 6th July 1971.

This is the only Louis Armstrong album I have at the moment. Have just ordered Louis and Ella Fitzgerald vols 1 and 2 though.

Any other Louis Armstrong albums I should look into?

If you want to remember another musician this day, it is also 7 years since Joao Gilberto died on this day. Will be giving the Getz/Gilberto a spin later.

Jazz delivery

Starting my deeper dive into the world of Jazz. After buying a lot of the top recommended Jazz albums, I decided it's time to expand into ones I dont know so well.

Chose Benny Goodman because I've just started learning clarinet.

Soultrane was the first jazz album I ever heard 20 years ago, so wanted to buy that.

Night Train was recommended by a few on this reddit.

Picked up a couple of Charlie Parker because I'm reading the Miles Davis autobiography which is talking about him a lot. Just bought the Bird Lives! Biography as well.

I have no idea who Clifford brown is. I didn't order that record. I ordered Fats Navarro vol 2, but Clifford brown arrived in the post instead. Anyone know if it's any good. Will give it a listen later today.

New Delivery.

Couple of classic jazz albums that were missing from my collection. Also just discovered that Jeff Golblum makes music, so had to check that out! It also has Scarlet Johansen on it and I love her singing.

Really enjoying Childish Gambino lately, also been rewatching Community.

Finally, some Bob Marley, cos I don't have any.

Also in the post, arriving today or tomorrow:

- Porgy and Bess, Miles Davis

- Porgy and Bess, Armstrong and Fitzgerald

- Blue Train, John Coltrane

- Best of Bob Newhart

- Monty Python's Life of Bryan.

- Catch Bull at four, Cat Stevens.
