Is it worth upgrading? Or just buy another?
This is my current bike, MTB Spanker Explorer GT. I have been using this for almost 3 years.
All are stocks, maliban sa Hydraulic brakes, mt200 for almost 1 year.
My heart is troubled with whether to buy a new bike, specifically gravel katana pro. Or just upgrade this
I am considering and practicing delayed gratification due to limited budget and unplanned desires of mine. Yet, I'm getting my advice from y'all. 😅
To upgrade, or wait for a budget for a new bike?
Katana pro is priced around 40k.
However, if I just upgraded this bike of mine. My goal is to make it lightweight, add speed, and replace the stocks that are stretched out or gamit na gamit na like:
-chains
-tires
-or the entire drivewheel
-fork.
If I were upgrading this, I would upgrade these (with expected or estimated costs per parts and intended reason)
- Chains: Suggest (₱1300 [i haven't changed it ever since it has been bought])
- Tire: Semi Slick(I will budget this with ₱1.5k? I think? Haha [Pudpod na, at I think semi slick tires will help me to lessen the weight])
- Fork: Rigid Fork (₱2.5k. [Will change it into rigid fork to lessen the weight for speed])
- Handlebars: Integrated Handlebars like the sagmit ones (₱1.5k [I still don't have a clear reason why I want to change my handlebar rather than lessening the weight])
- Hubs: Speedone Sniper (around ₱5k)
Others to be upgraded?
- Seat post + saddle
- my current bb is square type, should I upgrade it into hollowtech??
- or others?
Any thoughts? Any critics and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Should I wait patiently and buy a new bike or upgrade this bike with my initial plan? (if you have any suggestions for me on what to consider in upgrading or what to upgrade most importantly, please do so.)
