I'm seeking advice for those who have done the Roar and Snore overnight stay. Basically my 2 questions are this: 1. Do you get a more immersive experience with the animals by doing this overnight stay- that is, more of a "safari" feel (I'm not going to be making it to Africa anytime soon) vs a regular day visit and 2. If anybody has done the Deluxe Roar and Snore, was it worth the expense for the extra activities?
Some background for those who want it: I will be visiting San Diego with my 13 year-old nephew. We are both animal lovers. I tend to avoid zoos because they are often depressing, but I admire the work the San Diego Zoo does and feel good about visiting this park--I include this info to explain that this whole thing is a rare and special visit for me.
The overnight stay seems like it offers potentially more time to observe the animals at night and early in the morning when the park is quieter and not as hot, and also just have a fun unique experience. I looked into the deluxe option, which also offers the zip line safari, a night-vision tour that includes night-vision binoculars, and a morning safari. It is incredibly expensive though and seems like it might not be necessary to get what we want out of the visit. The point of the stay would be to really immerse ourselves, and I can't tell if the non-deluxe would give us what we want, or if the deluxe is just overkill.
Anyway, any feedback or tips would be great! Thank you!
