Hey everyone, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for some recommendations for a roofing/restoration company that really knows historic properties in Jersey City. I have a brownstone in the historic Downtown section of Jersey City, attached on both sides, and I’m trying to find the right company for some exterior restoration work.
The main thing I need done right now is restoring some old corbels, and I’d also love to add a few custom copper decorative elements to the exterior. My issue is I’m not sure what the Historic Preservation Commission will actually allow, so I’m hoping to find a company that has experience dealing with historic homes and knows what can be repaired, replaced, or upgraded without causing problems with approvals.
I’m really looking for a company that has been in business for a long time, has real hands-on experience with older masonry/brownstones, and can fabricate custom pieces instead of just doing basic roofing work. Basically, I'm looking for a company that understands craftsmanship, not just a standard contractor.
If anyone has had good experiences with a company in Jersey City/Hudson County that handles this kind of historic restoration work, I’d really appreciate the recommendations. Bonus points if they’ve worked in the Downtown historic district before. Thanks in advance! :)
