AF MOONWALK COACH SHAMING HYROX
Grabe yung disappointment ko sa AF Moonwalk - not the branch itself, but one of its coaches.
Right now, I’m training for hyrox because I’ll finally be joining a legit competition. I train 6x a week: one day is dedicated to actual simulation training in a gym that specializes in hyrox, then the other 5 days, I train in AF para sulit naman yung membership ko. So technically, most of my training talaga happens in AF. I just look for AF branches with hyrox equipment, and thankfully meron naman sa AF Moonwalk.
So eto na nga. I was doing wall balls near the open area of the gym while one of the coaches was training a client nearby. Before pa sila mag-start, nandoon na ako doing my workout. Then the client noticed me and asked the coach, “Ano workout ginagawa niya?” Coach answered, “Wall balls yan.” then the client asked, “Para saan yan?” and honestly… dito ako medyo nawindang. The coach started saying things like:
Mind you, he was saying all of this habang ongoing yung wall balls ko. Kita rin naman niyang nakikinig ako because wala akong earphones on. At one point, sobrang na-off na ako that I stopped my set and sat down for a while.
Honestly, I was left dumbfounded and sad after that hahaha. As someone who genuinely found her rhythm, strength, and confidence through hyrox these past few months, ang disappointing lang makarinig ng ganito from someone na you’d expect to be more open-minded about evolving fitness spaces and training styles. You don’t have to like hyrox, but calling it “fake,” “kalokohan,” and “hindi totoong workout” while someone is literally training in front of you? Weird behavior for a coach, honestly.
