My fiancé and I are planning our wedding in Jamaica next year and expect around 100 guests, requiring approximately 40 rooms.

Our travel agent has advised that to secure the group rate, a $150 per person deposit is required within 30 days, as airline pricing is only guaranteed for that period. Given the number of guests, covering these deposits ourselves would be a significant financial risk if anyone later cancels.

Additionally, our travel agent mentioned that processing dozens of separate credit card payments would be challenging.

For those who have planned a destination wedding, how did you handle this? Did you ask guests to submit their deposits directly to you or your travel agent?

Would it be appropriate to include a note on our save-the-date, such as:

"If you would like to secure your room under our group rate, please submit your deposit of $150 per person by [date]."

THANK YOU !!
