Is Dragon Quest II Remake a prequel do VIII now?

I don't know if anyone noticed at the end of Dragon Quest 2 Remake, but a purple bird appears accompanying Ramia, the bird from DQ3 that helps in the final battle.

Considering that the final battle has a huge similarity to Dragon Quest VIII, and that in DQ VIII there is also Empyrea, the purple bird that later reveals that her real name is Ramia, and that she says there are other worlds to visit, is it wrong to speculate that Dragon Quest 2 is now a prequel to VIII...?

After like... 8h I think, the combat system of Star Ocean Till The End of Time finally clicked, I'm having a great time with it.

So... Flynt has that long O -> short O -> short X combo, without skills, and Cliff has that very close O + short X.

Are there more combos like that, or do the other characters depend more on skills for comboing?
