Chatgpt description bc i dont even really know how to explain it that well:

I’m working on a 2014 Honda CRF450R and had a completely seized swingarm pivot bolt. I ended up cutting the bolt and now I’m dealing with the section that’s stuck in the back of the engine cases.

So far I’ve:

\- Drilled into the bolt (not perfectly centered)

\- Used a Dremel to hollow it out further

\- Started collapsing/picking out the remaining shell

At this point the bolt is basically a thinner shell, but it’s coming out in small pieces rather than breaking free.

My main concerns:

\- I went slightly into the aluminum case in one small spot (it’s smooth, not gouged)

\- I’m worried about damaging the pivot bore if I keep going

\- Not sure if I should keep picking it out, drill deeper, or try heat

Questions:

  1. Best way to remove the remaining thin shell without damaging the case?

  2. Is slight damage to the pivot bore a big issue or usually fine?

  3. Would heat help at this stage or is it unnecessary?

Any advice from people who’ve dealt with seized pivot bolts in engine cases would be appreciated. This thing is STUCK.
