Hi - I have a 2020 390 ADV I bought used (in VA, US) and it has a sidestand bypass, done by previous owner. I need to temporarily switch it back so the bike will pass VA Safety inspection. It looks like the bypass has been implemented not with a dongle but by sticking in a resistor directly (and covered with a rubber cap). See attached pic (rubber cap and sensor side connector not shown).

Can anyone second this diagnosis from the pic i.e. its just stuck a resistor in. The connector in question is on the left side of the bike and matches all videos I've seen on the topic, and the sensor/switch end connector has been taped up as expected. I plan to pull that resistor out if I can, and plug in the sensor side, before taking the bike for VA safety inspection.

  • Anybody know what value the resistor is?
  • Anybody know if VA Safety inspection checks for sidestand switch (if not, I can just avoid the whole effort) ... or if you know a bike friendly inspection shop in Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Loudoun, Arlington, PW areas) DM me with info 😄

Thanks!
