They are teens headed to different colleges next year and she has decided she does not want to attempt long distance and wants to breakup now to start the emotional healing process. She is pretty sure this breakup will take him by complete surprise (they only recently committed to their schools so have not talked about next year much if at all) and is devastated to think how badly she will hurt him even though she knows it is the right thing for her. He is very low support needs but definitely appreciates routine, logic, etc. is there anything at all she can do or say to help make this less painful for him? They dated for about a year and had a very loving relationship.
