I hear so many people say they have a phobia of something extremely specific and while these exist, they are often just fears not classified as a phobia. I've heard people say things like there is a phobia for the fear of sitting in a chair while waiting for their friend to come meet them. I feel like so many people overuse this term and I'm wondering what everyone else thinks. I think books like the DSM series should come up with some more requirements in a way. I feel like to me a phobia is a fear of something that it is extreme enough that it prevents you from living your day normally. Something that you would avoid and yes there is less severe forms once someone has recovered I understand that. For example I have a phobia that is pretty hard to deal with. Androphobia (the fear of men) is something that I have struggled with for the past few years and something I cannot control. Seeing as about half of the population is this gender I can't exactly rule them out like some other phobias. Luckily for me it has gotten better and I can stand in a room with a man which couldn't happen a few years ago. My point is I believe that phobia is a term that is being overused to the extent that people can make it feel like something small when it is actually something that can quite literally control your life. I would appreciate any other thoughts!

I don't remember the name of the mmc, but the fmc's name is Ava. The author may have the name Natalia something. I feel like the title had something to do with knight. It was a very dark book and most of my memories are of Ava attempting to jump off the balcony if the mmc were to hurt her friend Cade/caden maybe. Then he threw her in jail to "protect her". Any help would be appreciated.
