Hi everyone,
I’m facing a really strange charging issue with my laptop and wanted to check if anyone else has experienced something similar.
Here’s what’s happening:
The laptop(lenovo yoga) often only starts charging when the battery hits 0% or after it shuts down completely.
Sometimes I have to wait a bit after shutdown before charging actually begins.
Once charging starts, it charges normally up to 100% without any issues.
If I unplug the charger midway:
Sometimes it resumes charging when plugged back in
Other times it refuses to charge again unless the battery drains to 0%
I’ve already checked common things like battery conservation mode, but no luck.
A few additional observations:
I don’t think it’s purely a battery issue since it charges fully once it starts. And i get decent 4-6hrs battery when not plugged.
Interestingly, when I tried using a mobile USB-C charger once, it started charging.
But when I immediately switched back to the original laptop charger, it did not charge.
The charger and cable seem fine:
No loose connections (even tried gently moving it while charging)
Laptop and charger are both relatively new
I bought the laptop in the US and currently use it in India with a US-to-India adapter, but the adapter seems fine (works with other devices like my phone).
Has anyone faced anything like this? Could it be a hardware issue (charging port / motherboard) or something else I’m missing?
Any suggestions would really help!
