Areas of law with good work-life balance

Hi all,

I am looking to make a career pivot and am considering law. I am looking for a career that can provide high pay and good work life balance. I heard that some areas of law such as estate law, government or in-house could provide this. Can anyone working in these areas confirm this? Are there other areas this is possible?

I've heard others say it is a bad idea to pursue law for money. However, I do not feel called to any career in partical. I have innate communication, writing and people-skills. I think i would like client based work. I also have five years working with numbers as a data anlyst so I think an estate lawyer role would be fine for me. I moreso want a career that i am happy in and provides the lifestyle I want (e.g., high pay, financial stability, work life balance, good benefits, low lay-off risk). So is it really wrong to consider a career based on what it can provide you as opposed to feeling called to a specific type of law?

What was your reason for choosing a career in law?
