are victorian homes worth it if well maintained?

The homes I’m considering seem well-maintained on the surface (good roof, some updates), but I’m worried about hidden costs.
first time buyer illinois.

Budget is tight — I don’t want big projects in the first 5 years. Photos of the listings attached if helpful. Thanks!

I’m a first-time buyer looking at a 1950s ranch in Illinois. I’m worried about several mature trees right next to the foundation and the basement. Is this usually a big problem? Should I get a foundation inspection + sewer scope? Photos attached. Any advice appreciated! i have not made a offer

First-time buyer in illinois— worried about these trees/roots near foundation. Should I walk away or get more inspections?

There’s a large mature [Spruce/Maple] tree near the house and power lines. What should I be worried about? Anyone dealt with similar trees in northern Illinois? Worth getting an arborist before making an offer?
