I'm starting to get frustrated and don't know how to advocate for ourselves in this case.
We've been TTC for 3 years (two MCs). Last year we got some testing done through my OB office. Checking my uterus/tubes/ovaries as well as my hormones (all clear on my end). Husband has had two semen analyses in the last year. They found some morphology and count issues for him. He stopped smoking weed after the first test, but the test a year later showed no change. He's a healthy weight, reasonable diet, takes vitamins, exercises, etc, no impact it seems. Some medical issues, but weve been told those shouldnt impact fertility for him.
I spoke with my OB following these last results and he said to reach out to the reproductive team. Talking with them and setting up the initial appointment, they seemed very dismissive, saying they don't check male factor issues, and immediately said we should redo all my tests (expensive) and should then just go straight to IVF (so much more expensive). My OB said we could contact a urologist for my husband for their opinion.
I just want to know how others have handled male factor fertility issues? Is the urologist a reasonable next step? Is IVF really the only option we have left??
