I’m a grad student coming to Pittsburgh in the fall and looking for my first apartment here. It’s been alarming to see that it looks like pretty much every apartment rental company in the city is hated online. I was seriously considering at an apartment from Deaktor Development and one from Lobos Management, but both of these companies get seemingly nothing but bad reviews and horror stories online. Also, I got sample leases from both companies which were similarly very aggressive and not tenant friendly. Not sure if that’s the norm or both companies are outliers.
Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? Are those stories overblown or are these companies truly all terrible, and in that case what’s the best option?
