Hey folks, need some honest advice before I pull the trigger on a new ADV.
I’m 6’3”, mid-built, and recently took a test ride of the KTM 390 Adventure X. Mixed feelings tbh. The bike feels quite vibey and a bit unrefined under 3–4k rpm, but once you get past that, it really comes alive — that “KTM magic” kicks in.
However, I faced a couple of practical issues:
\- The brake lever and gear lever felt quite narrow for my liking
\- I actually had to look down mid-ride to locate the brake lever, which isn’t confidence-inspiring.
My key questions:
Does the 250 Adventure feel significantly smoother and easier to manage in traffic compared to the 390 X?
Will I miss the power too much given my height/build after a few months?
Has anyone here done ergonomic mods (wider brake pedal / gear lever extensions) on the 390? Did it solve the issue?
Usage:
\- 70–80% city (traffic-heavy)
\- Occasional highway rides
