Kanthkot fort and sun temple built by Kathi darbars

Built in 843 AD by Kathi darbars

It initially served as capital of Kathis before changes in political currents led it to being controlled by Chavdas and Vaghelas and eventually under Jadejas

It served as a strategic defensive post which was also used as defence against Mahmud Ghazni

Kathi darbars being a sun worshiping community, keep surya dev at centre of all their activities including their fort complexes, this fort also houses ruins of old sun temple built by Kathis apart from many Paliyas dedicated to kathis, garasiyas and warriors of many other creeds who attained martyrdom fighting there, one paliya here depicts an image of a woman holding her child, showcasing how women of Gujarat were just as brave as man

Legacy of warriorhood and traditions of sun worship survived well into Kathiawar as Kathis after arriving in Kathiawar built a sun temple at old surajdeval (juna surajdeval) and build many forts including hingolgadh fort

While Kanthkot lies in Kutch, it was built by Kathi Darbars who are presently exclusively a Kathiawari community, thus by extension a legacy of Kathiawaris lying in Kutch

Usage of term lok varn in Kathiawar

Hii can anyone tell me more on use of this term by folks from Kathiawar

Among Kathi darbars lok varan or lok van is used to imply non kathis or commoners or others

According to my sister it implies either all non kathis or all except Kathi, garasiya and Brahmans based on its usage by Kathi darbars (as all others were historically seen as commoners)

But according to some rabaris online its also used by rabaris to refer to others or non rabari

This is surprising because from Kathi perspective lok means all commoners which would also include rabari

So do all castes of Kathiawar use this term to refer to others or only some castes do it and if only some do it then which ones use it to refer to others ?

Also if it’s only used by some castes then which castes are/were included in lok varn ?
