Decorating a short-term rental
Hey redditors! My wife (F28) and I (F32) have been living nomadically for over 5 years, either housesitting or living where we work at yoga retreat centres. This summer my wife got a seasonal job and we are renting (mostly) unfurnished 1B apartment in a Canadian town. This is our first time renting in 5 (!) years, so we kind of forgot how many things you need to get to make a space feel cozy and homey haha. My MIL lives in town and she helped us source a bed, brought some plants, bedding and kitchen supplies.
We're only staying here for the summer (until September) and that 's where I thought to turn to my reddit community! Please help us find affordable tips and tricks to make our space feel cozy and inviting. What do we absolutely need? How can we make renter friendly tweaks that will give back in vibes? I don't want to invest a lot, since we'll be leaving in a few months and don't want to deal with selling too many things. Our budget is probably around 300-350 CAD/200-250 USD. Wouldn't want to spend more than 100 CAD on a single item.
As you can see the living space is awkward with a GINORMOUS fridge (welcome to North America lol), couch from the 70s and kitchen island that is now my office :D
Some things I already know and are on top of my priority list:
- Swapping the couch and for something cozier and better fitted for the space.
- Curtains
- Thrift store run to find rugs and bedside table lamps
Any help would be super appreciated!
