TOG Story progression discussion *Spoilers Alert*
Hello all, do I have picked up TOG again after forgetting about it for years, and I just binged all the released chapters in last 2 weeks.
I have a major issue with the whole story-telling side of the story. In 652 chapters/episodes now, i would like to know that we literally almost know nothing about the world, the main character, or the main villain/opposition force of the story.
In 600 plus chapters, we still don't know what exactly is "outside the tower" or what it is like, we dont know anything about Baam or Rachel (Baam having a mother and a father that were on a journey with Jahaad is literally the most trivial of information that adds no context. I would even go as far as to argue that Jahaad killing Baam as a baby is also trivial information without any further context added to it.), we dont even know what is different between a Regular and a Ranker really. It was not explained at any point what is the significant difference between the two. In one chapter it said that a Martial Artist that Baam went to learn from refused becoming a Ranker and all the riches and immortality that comes with it; alongside on of the High Rankers in S3 daying that its harder to repair/heal rankers when they are mortally wounded, which leads me to believe that Rankers are somehow fundemntaily different than Regulars, but this is never explained nor is it made clear.
My problem with the whole story is that it feels like an Edging-Fest. The premise of the world is fascinating and really is quite unique and amazing, but in many years of reading, i think this story has been one of the most disappointing and inflated stories i have ever come upon. It is just beyond hollow, with a lot of promises and potential, and no actual release.
I would love to hear everyone's opinion on this. Thanks for reading my rant.
