This is why you don't DIY your wedding

Son is a groomsman in a wedding for a longtime childhood friend. Thought he was asked to come down a few days before go golfing, etc. WRONG. The couple put him and the other groomsmen and BM's to work. Not only that, but we asked over a month ago where the reception was going to be and the groom said it was going to be at the church. We booked a room close to the church, but TODAY, the day of the wedding, we find out the reception is actually 25 minutes from the church, in the middle of NOWHERE. This information was not on the invite. Oh, and it is raining. So reception in a field, in the middle of nowhere, and it is raining. Oh, and we find out it is a cash bar.

This is why you don't do your own weddings. Sure, you think it will be cheaper, but abusing your closest friends and seriously inconveniencing your guests is terribly wrong.

I know my son will be rethinking this friendship. Will give an update on how bad it truly is tomorrow. Oh, and this is also why I never give a gift until after the event.
