I’ve made a similar post on another subreddit but I am still in need of help. My mom has permed my hair since I was two years old and now I want to grow out my natural hair to see my actual texture for the first time and possibly get locs.

The big chop is something I’ve been considering but she would never let me so I‘m wondering if I could just grow it out instead or wait till I move out to chop it all off?

Long story short my mom has being perming my hair since I was young (two, three, four years old) and up. I now want to see my natural hair for the first time to get locs but I an unsure if it would be okay if I cut off all my hair and restart or just try to avoid another perm and get locs that way.

I don’t know where else to go with this situation and was wondering if anyone could help me.
