Hi all - im a first time parent to our now 6 month old son. We went through a very bad 4-month regression that lasted around 4 weeks, maybe slightly longer, it was awful. Anyways, fast forward to month 5 things start getting better, naps were better, overnight was easier although still woke up 2 times to feed but went back to sleep immediately so honestly I didn’t really mind.

Now we are in what feels like another regression - resisting naps, resisting bedtime, wakes up around 3 times to feed overnight (has full 4 oz), and in between wake ups every hour crying for pacifier. He also seems to wake up consistently between 2 and 3 am and will proceed to cry until I calm him down and help him fall asleep again (sometimes these episodes last over an hour).

Couple new things that have changed when he turned 6 months - we moved him into a proper crib (he was in a larger bassinet before), but he’s still bedside in our room. He also started solids. He’s on 3 naps a day (that’s been pretty consistent for a while now), and bedtime is between 7-730 max.

I have no idea what to do - full disclosure I tried the Ferber method the other night and he slept on his own after 10 minutes, but that night he wouldn’t put himself back to sleep and had MULTIPLE screaming episodes and so I just gave up on that on sleep training cause I thought well clearly he can pit himself to sleep but he doesn’t overnight (probably not the right way to think about this).

I should also add that I rock him to sleep for naps and bedtime and sing to him. Do I really need to stop doing that for him to sleep through the night? Honestly I enjoy putting him to sleep it feels like bonding and cuddles and it seemed to work that he’d sleep for most of the night on his own, but it’s just not working again.

Anyways any advise would help, or if anyone else is in the same boat?

Signed - really tired parents
