Is this motherhood discrimination?
I work in a 30 person architectural practice in the uk. I gave birth to my daughter in May 2025 and had agreed prior to going on maternity leave that I would come back in part time capacity of 3 days Monday- Wednesday with annual leave on Thursday Friday for 6 months. I returned to work January 2026. And had my 6 month review based on a current temporary work arrangement which was my first negative review I have received from the company in my 5 years of working there and I felt that it largely due to the fact that I have been working 3 days a week.
Comments were made that I did not support a junior member of staff better on a project that he should of been leading even though I arranged regular check ins and explained to him process and project goals and he repeatedly did not do what I had asked to the extent that I had expressed to my director multiple times prior to my review that he required more support and I sensed he was potentially neurodivergent as he struggled to keep to task and follow basic instructions.
There were comments made like I used to be a big personality in the office and that I was a lot quieter since returning yet on my return from work I had been moved from my original seat and put into the other office in the corner surrounded with people I do not work with.
They had also mentioned that I had spoken bluntly to people outside of the organisation on occasion and it was because it depending on whether I liked them or not however I rebutted this because whether I liked them or not was irrelevant and it was based on the type of job they held for example to a contractor or pm I was more matter of fact matching the tone of their email however to a client I was more jovial in responses.
There was also a large emphasis on not being able to have it all, when I had eluded to it being a hard year they said that I was moving house and have two kids and should be proud of that but I was extremely uncomfortable with them bringing up personal matters in a work review. What should I do?
