Tech guy in UAE looking to start a side hustle – perfume business

Guide,

I work in IT/tech in Dubai and have a decent full-time salary, but I’ve been thinking about building something on the side rather than relying only on my salary long term.

I’m currently considering starting a small perfume brand. The idea is to begin with 4–5 private-label/inspired fragrances, manufacture them locally in the UAE, and sell through Amazon UAE and Noon.

I’m still at the research stage and haven’t invested yet.
If anyone here has experience with perfume/cosmetics businesses in the UAE, I’d really appreciate some honest advice especially regarding manufacturers, licensing, initial investment, Amazon FBA/Noon, and realistic margins.

Would love to hear from people who have actually done it.

Thanks!

8 years in IT, AZ-104 done — AZ-305 next?

Hi everyone,

I have 8 years of IT experience, started as a technician, moved into system administration and now work as an IT Infrastructure Engineer.

My experience is mainly in networking, firewalls, M365, AD, Azure and security. I recently passed AZ-104 and I’m also learning Linux, Python and automation.

I’m planning to move towards Cloud/AI Infrastructure. Is AZ-305 a good next step, or should I focus on something else?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Starting a Perfume Brand in UAE – Need Advice

**Planning to start a perfume brand in UAE need some advice**

Hi everyone, I’m planning to start a small perfume brand in the UAE as a side business.

The plan is to start with around 5 private-label/inspired fragrances, manufacture them locally, and sell through Amazon UAE and Noon, preferably using FBA/FBN. I’m thinking of using one clean, premium bottle design across the range and building my own brand around it.

I’m currently researching UAE licenses, private-label manufacturers, MOQs, costs, and Amazon/Noon fees.
If anyone here has actually started a perfume/cosmetics business in the UAE,

I’d really appreciate any advice on manufacturers, licensing, realistic costs, margins, or things I should watch out for.

Thanks!

Need some help for my nephew

Hi everyone,

I’m posting here hoping someone might be able to help my nephew.

He came to the UAE from India in May through a recruitment agency. Back in India, he was running a small grocery shop, but the income wasn’t enough to support his family, so he decided to come here for a better future.
The agency promised him a Keeta delivery rider job with a salary of around AED 5,000. After he arrived, they said the Keeta contract had been cancelled because of the war situation. He stayed in a labour camp for almost 2 months waiting for work.

Later, they offered him an Office Boy job for AED 1,500, but that also didn’t happen. Now they are asking him to work as a Cleaner for AED 1,200 with accommodation only. He has to manage all his other expenses, including food, from the same salary. He didn’t accept the offer because it’s completely different from what he was promised before coming here.

He’s a hardworking and honest person who is ready to work. If anyone knows of any genuine job openings in retail, supermarkets, warehouses, delivery, office support, or any other decent role, I would really appreciate it if you could let me know.
Any advice or job leads would mean a lot to him and our family. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. 🙏

Bought an Apple Watch Ultra 2 (94% Battery Health) for AED 1,250 – Good Deal?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a used Apple Watch Ultra 2 for AED 1,250.
Here are the details:

Battery health: 94%
No major scratches or dents
Everything is working fine
Activation Lock was removed, and I paired it with my Apple ID successfully

Do you think AED 1,250 is a good price, or did I pay too much?

Also, is 94% battery health still considered good? About how long should it last before I need to replace the battery?
I’d appreciate your thoughts, especially if you’ve bought a used Ultra 2 recently. Thanks!
