In this post, I would like to explore the possibility of further resource nodes that could be added.
Geology
Franconia had a lot of resources in the medieval age.
Iron Ore was found pretty much all over Franconia. Gold and Tin were found and mined at the Fichtelmountains. Major tin ore was also found in upper Franconia.
Some Copper and Silver was also found in Franconia and adjacent areas.
Slate and Sandstone was pretty common
Usage
- Minting (right of printing coins) was mainly done from silver in Germany, but gold and copper was also often used.
- Jewelry/decorative elements from Gold and Silver
- Religious items from gold, silver and copper
- Organ-Pipes from tin
- Tinware: kitchen-wares made from tin
- Silverware: cutlery made from silver
- House-wares made from copper
- Sandstone for castles, large churches and statues
- Slate for roofs
Of those Minting is propably the most important addition to the game, due to the importance of Minting Rights for a city or lord.
Gold, silver and tin products could also be used as requirements for higher level churches or burgage plots. Different kinds of stones could also be possible requirements for higher level structures.
Therefore, Silver would be a strong candidate for a resource node. Gold, copper and tin would be nice too, but most of their actual gameplay impacts would be dealt with by silver already. Thus they might be a bit superflous.
Having different kind of stones would be nice on one hand, but on the other hand it wouldn't have any realistic impact probably, because local people would use the available stone, no matter what it is.
Other resource nodes
Two more possible resource nodes that would make sense in my opinion are
* water-access, which can be usable for water mills for example
* and the quality of the kingsroad. It would make a big difference for a region if it is located next to a major kingsroad with major traderoutes already passing, or just a minor one.
