Hello, so I’m doing a rear brake job on my 9-3 2002og. I managed to 1 side done without issues. But the right side is giving me issues. The back brake pad goes in without issues. But the outer one only goes into the caliper if the backing plate is removed. Otherwise I almost need to hammer it in, so my question is. Is it fine to skip the backing plate on 1 of the 4 pads?

I’ve also taken everything apart to clean rust/gunk and pushed the pistons as far back as they will go but still no budging from the other pad.
