Can anyone please give me some advice on how to remove small strips of sod from the lawn?

We’re removing our grass to replace with low water plants. I rented a sod cutter this weekend. Because I’m not an expert with the machine, and because I was on a hurry to get it back to Home Depot on time, I missed some strips of grass that I didn’t notice until after I returned the machine.

Is there a way to cut out these strips that is easy and quick and doesn’t require me to rent the machine again? I’ve been using a hand saw to cut them, and it works, but it’s slow and tedious.
