MacBook M1 13" - Do I actually need it?

Hey everyone, I have a bit of a dilemma and could use some outside perspective.

I'm considering buying an M1 MacBook Pro 13" — I have a good deal on a 512GB / 16GB RAM model, so price isn't the main concern. The real question is whether I actually need it.

Why I'm considering it:

  • Lightweight and very portable
  • Powerful enough for my needs
  • Much better display than my current laptop

My current setup: I have both a desktop PC and a laptop, but the laptop is a gaming machine — bulky, heavy (adds ~3kg to my bag), and the display quality is about what you'd expect. Carrying it around has actually been causing me back pain, which is a big motivator here.

The hesitation: I've never used a Mac before, so there would be a learning curve involved.

The core question: Is it worth spending the money on an M1 MacBook Pro if the primary reason is portability and ease of travel? I do travel somewhat now and plan to travel more in the future.
