Yearly Reminder

I experienced the best spontaneous act of solidarity amongst kayakers this weekend.

At the put-in, a bus load of folks were dropped onto the river by a local outfitter. No big deal, happens every 20 minutes.

What usually doesn't happen is 25 of us sitting still on the water, waiting.

What were we waiting on, you ask? For "Mr. Music" to move downstream because he had a speaker turned all the way up strapped to the back of his kayak. We could hear his music from over 150 feet away.

So...I believe its time for the yearly public service announcement:

No one wants to hear the music coming from the speaker on your kayak from 100 feet away.

Turn it down or turn it off.

My neighbor saw me out today with my Rustler this afternoon and struck up a conversation in which he offered to sell me (what we think is) a moderately-used Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3.

He says to the best of his remembrance, the motor needs re-built or replaced as do the tires (shocker) but otherwise it's a solid RC truck. He told me to "make an offer" in a few days after I've done some research.

Since I'm brand new to the game, I have no idea what a fair offer would be for this truck and don't want to rip the guy off, but also don't want to get ripped off myself if he counters my offer.

On that note...I'm seeing anything from $100 - $400 for used T-Maxx 3.3's.

Considering it's non-running condition and needed replacement parts (possible motor, who knows what else) would offering him $150-$200 be too low??

(Posted, deleted, re-posted because my pics were gone but then I figured out what I did wrong.)

UPDATE***** - I've read all the replies and see that this isn't a very good truck in its current condition and not worth anything near the estimates I was seeing online this afternoon.

That said, I DO enjoy a challenge and tinkering with all things mechanical that go zoom-zoom so I'll probably offer the guy $40 and see if he takes the offer.

If he does, great, I have a project. If not, oh well, I'll find something else to tinker with eventually.

Thank you all for the help!!!
