After watching/listening to the Angels games this season Suzuki is horrible at managing a bullpen. I wanted to give Kurt Suzuki a fair shot, but his bullpen management has been seriously frustrating to watch.
It feels like the timing on pitching changes is constantly off. Either he leaves guys in way too long when they clearly don’t have it, or he pulls them too early and burns through arms that we end up needing later in the series. There’s no consistency, and it’s costing us games that are still within reach.
Matchups don’t seem to be optimized either. You’ll see relievers put into situations that don’t play to their strengths, while better options sit unused. In tight games, that kind of decision-making matters a lot, and after watching the White Sox game today proved my point.
