I’m starting a new contractor role soon with a UK-based company, and I’ll be invoicing them directly. I want to make sure I’m setting everything up correctly.

So far, I’ve registered a sole proprietorship through Ownr and opened a business bank account with RBC. I’m now looking to confirm my business number and whether I need to register for GST/HST, since the contract is expected to be over $100K annually (please correct me if I’m misunderstanding the threshold or requirements).

Could you help clarify if I’m on the right track and what the next steps should be?
